Volunteers Needed for United Way of Southwest Alabama 2-1-1

Jun 14th, 2016

Are you looking for a meaningful way to impact our community? United Way of Southwest Alabama's 2-1-1 is looking for volunteers to work in their Call Center. These volunteers will answer calls and provide information on resources in the community such as food pantries, homeless shelters, support groups, summer education programs for children, and many other resources for individuals and families. This is a great opportunity for students and volunteers to learn about hundreds of social service agencies in the area as well as help families in Southwest Alabama. The network of call centers in Alabama work together when disaster hits to provide vital information to the community. Shelter information, potable water, food and medical services are several of the needs addressed. Call specialists are empathetic listeners trained to help callers identify specific needs in order to connect with resources. Training is also available for those that are interested in answering the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. Shifts are available weekdays, 8am to 4pm. If you are interested in joining our team, please check out How to Help on our website and fill out the Volunteer Application, or give us a call at 251-431-5100 to schedule an interview.
