You wake up…grab a cup of coffee…you have just a few minutes before the true morning rush begins…

You open your emails hoping to read your favorite Lifelines blog to begin the day on a good foot …

And you are BOMBARDED with

your e book bargains for the day, faux leather trends you need to wear this fall, your favorite sporting goods store and their Super Cash promotion, a 50% off coupon at a discount travel company, new arrivals at a boutique you shopped at once, this news site, that news site, another news site, notification for your annual bug spray, a motivational quote to begin your day, a motivational video to begin your day, a morning devotion, etc, etc etc.

And as you sip your coffee you get pulled into 101 directions until you look up at your clock to see that you spent way too much time checking your emails, in fact you forgot what email you were even looking for. You are going to have to rush now to get ready for work, you don’t have time to make a lunch, no time to visit with the dog…

And so the day begins…with a lot of wasting time that robbed you of needed time.

Does this sound like you? Why do we allow all these distractions to pull us away from our peace? There are truly so many things that are vying for our attention. And we fall into this trap at the expense of our own well being.

Have you had enough? This week…I had had enough. One by one I began to “unsubscribe” from various sites and for each form I had to submit I would comment Too many emails! Yes, I will admit, I am the one who one by one subscribed or gave out my email address to various stores, causes, promotions, etc. But I didn’t need to remain in the clutches of this clutter!

A sense of taking control over this email mess that without my realizing it had begun to stress me, empowered me to simplify and continue unsubscribing. Some would ask what does a messy desk say about our minds? I ask you, what does your inbox say about you?

Don’t be afraid to simplify…streamlining your email inbox just might be the first step in DE cluttering your life!
